Your blather is so mis-guided and ignorant …. Bush has been in the white house now for 8 years and his party owned the house and the senate for the first six years and did nothing to address this financial crisis they were aware of ? That makes sense … good clear and fair thinking
Annie – first, I cannot be “mis-guided” because no one guides me, for better or worse – I’m an independent. Second, surely you must understand the irony of calling my “blather” “ignorant” and then making two statements that reveal your ignorance?
The first ignorant statement was that Bush’s “party owned the house and senate for the first six years.” A party “owns” the Congress when they have a filibuster-proof majority (60 or more Senators) so the opposition can’t stop anything (Obama had this for 2009, making his claim that the GOP blocked his agenda incredulous).
Republicans have not had filibuster-proof majorities in my life time, perhaps ever. In fact, Bush began with a split Senate 50/50 until Sen Jeffords of VT switched parties in June 2001 to give DEMOCRATS A MAJORITY until 2003. Although Bush had a slight majority from 1/2003 to 1/2007, Democrats could stop anything with a filibuster.
Which brings us your second ignorant statement. In 2005, Bush attempted to reform Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, because he recognized the danger of the ballooning sub-prime mortgage mess that these agencies created. Democrats, including freshman Sen Barack Obama, blocked Bush’s reforms with a filibuster. 3 yrs later, Obama would have the Audacity to blame Bush for the financial crisis Obama prevented Bush from preventing.
Can you see the irony?
LOL Annie! Typical liberal can’t even count. It’s been 7 years – nearly 8. You need to learn yerself some googling skills and read about all the attempts Bush made to reform this. Countless times this year alone.
You’re not aware of any of these attempts, nor the legislation proposed by McCain in 2005 (which is all over the internet) along with the warnings because your media doesn’t want you to know about it. While you’re at it, you can check YouTube where your democratic geniuses told investigators in 2004 “there was no problem” with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. No problem for them, they were getting 10’s of millions in bonuses.
Be wise and do your own searches and watch Fox News to get the whole story about what’s going on.
If every liberal leaning person really knew the truth about how they are being deliberately lied to (and I mean LIED TO) by their manipulators…er, uh candidates, you’d be as mad as we are hearing your side continue their unchecked, outright, libelous and slanderous comments.
