Recently, Michelle Malkin spoke out against what she called, “amnesty stooge Dick Armey“.
I read this immediately because, as a tea-party activist that supports the anti-Obamacare work of Armey’s FreedomWorks org, I wanted to hear Michelle’s take on the former GOP house leader. I was stunned.
Here’s the worst quote, “Armey said “this is a nation of immigrants” and “if you love America, love freedom” and if you will work and pay taxes, you should be welcome in the country.”
This is nonsense. you’re only welcome in this country if you are here legally. I really don’t care if you “love America, love freedom” or “work and pay taxes” you should self-deport immediately if you are here illegally. It’s pretty simple and non-negotiable – it you can’t follow our laws – stay out!
It was very disappointing to read about Armey’s position on immigration. I do appreciate his work on stopping Obamacare, but the conservative movement is big enough, and principled enough, to attract supporters without lowering our standards. In fact, our standards are our strength.
I would even suggest that there are millions of LEGAL Hispanic immigrants that are attracted to principled, anti-amnesty conservatives who want to keep illegals out, to make life better for the legals – including themselves, legal Hispanics. If illegal immigration were stopped, and those here illegally self-deport, their lives would improve also.
Just like non-Hispanic citizens, Hispanic citizens would enjoy the same benefits – their visits to the ER would be shorter and less crowded, their tax dollars would not be wasted on non-citizens, their crime rates would go down, their wages would likely increase and, they would feel emerge from the taint of being associated with non-citizens who break our laws.
So, fed up, I wrote this email to FreedomWorks:
I recently read Michelle Malkin’s blog comments about what Armey has said about illegal immigration – that “if someone loves America”, “works hard and pays taxes” they’re “welcome here in America”.
That’s complete nonsense. I don’t care if you love America and work hard – you must respect our sovereignty and obey US citizenship laws to come here and stay here.
I have several friends from China and India that waited years to come here legally. They are waiting years more for their family to come here legally.
It is outrageous that Armey puts out the welcome mat for those that cut in line and break our laws.
Please cancel me account. Although I do appreciate your work stopping Obamacare, I cannot associate with an organization that supports lawlessness.
Join me in leaving FreedomWorks. There are plenty of other organizations with a leader that doesn’t welcome lawbreakers.
